Call for Participation – ADA Symposium 2022 – ada.net.nz

Expressions of Interest are invited for the following interactions with ADA Symposium Indeterminate Infrastructures; Objects, Signals and Architectures. The symposium will be a three day, multiple venue and hybrid access event based in Whakatū / Nelson: NMIT, Refinery ArtSpace, intermedial spaces and at venues all around the country and online.

The Indeterminate Infrastructures research theme explores how the digital is entangled in material existence, with contemporary creative practice resonating with or intervening in these often ambiguous architectures. Through multiple perspectives we examine what lies beyond these infrastructures and explore how creative media and art practices unfold into wider ecologies of media and materialities of digital networks.

We are looking for contributions in the form of;

  • Proposals for short provocations that respond to the themes as they interplay with creative practices, and/or affect relationships and the more-than-human in urban and public spaces.Your abstract should include: name, contact information, title and a 300 word abstract referencing the relevant symposium theme, and any technical requirements.  Please expect to give a ten minute presentation and contribute to a panel discussion – online resources to support your presentation are welcome. proposals Due Friday June 24
  • Panel proposals. These abstracts should include: name of at least three people to form a panel, contact information, title and a 300 word abstract referencing the relevant symposium theme, and any technical requirements.Please expect to present a collaborative 30 – 40 minute panel – online resources to support your panel presentation are welcome. proposals Due Friday June 24

  • Presentations of work. ADA are looking to select works to be shown as part of the Symposium and are open to discussing alternative display sites (physically or online). Submissions should include; name, contact details, an image or documentation of the work (if possible), and a 150 word abstract for a five minute discussion.   • Projections. Proposals for inclusion into a schedule of works for a large outdoor projection. These should include; name, contact details, an image or documentation of the work (if possible), and a 150 word abstract for a five minute discussion.
