SPACE : NETWORK : MEMORY || REGISTER through eventbrite
9th ADA Auckland Symposium, Fri 12 – Sun 14 September.
Venue: AUT City Campus, WG Sir Paul Reeves Building, 55 Wellesley St East
Full programme available here: /symposia/auckland-symposium-programme/
Space : Network : Memory recognises that the situation of post-quake, post-‘blueprint’, transitional Christchurch generates problems and possibilities for all of Aotearoa/New Zealand. The Auckland symposium will continue this discussion, delving further into questions of social density and the built environment.
Space : Network : Memory invites proposals for provocations, panel participation and presentations of work engaging with aspects of the broad range of practices and approaches necessary for rethinking the contemporary city, the networks that surround and emerge from it, and the memories and futures it holds.
Space : Network : Memory will include artists, designers, scientists, media practitioners and performers, urban planners, historians, theorists, curators, writers, educators, and storytellers.
Provocation:
What roles are digital networks playing in our ability to reveal and understand the layers of a city? How does this affect contemporary practices in art, architecture, urban planning and related fields?
Space : Network : Memory is a multi-city symposium that emerged out of the events and transitional architectures of Christchurch, engaging in discussions of urban space, social engagement, memory and speculative futures.
We invite responses that might engage physically, psychologically, spiritually and/or playfully with the visible and hidden structures and systems of Auckland / Tamaki Makaurau.
